TITLE: PRODUCTION GRAPHIC ARTS TECHNICIAN (Macintosh)
SHIFT: Day Shift
REPORTS TO: Giorgio Bracaglia

GENERAL FUNCTION:
This position requires a self-motivated individual who has a strong understanding and interest in computers and pre-press technology. In this role, the selected individual will be responsible for performing daily digital pre-press activities, including working with Desktop Publishing, proofreading work, page assembly and imposition. Other responsibilities include interpreting instructions and executing the prepping process using variable graphic arts applications and plate setter. Wide format output (HP 5500) for proofing as well as trade show production. Qualified candidate will possess at least 2-5 years experience in digital pre-press environment; very strong attention to detail and ability to take and execute all instructions. This candidate will work under daily deadlines and efficiently multi-task according to production priorities. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of college coursework and pre-press experience required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High-level expertise and speed in InDesign, Quark, Illustrator, PhotoShop, PageMaker
  • Experience with font management concepts and utilities
  • Experience in typesetting, tracking, kerning, and an eye for layout and design
  • Understanding of digital workflow systems for computer-to-plate technology (Rampage/Gretag Platejet)
  • Experience working in both Mac (OS 9 & OS X) and PC (Windows XP) platforms
  • File imposition and use of imposition and ripping software (i.e. Dynastrip,Best Color)
  • Experience with PDF files and workflow, as well as working knowledge of Acrobat
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office products desired
  • Color theory and color correction knowledge is desired
  • Work well in a team setting and fast-paced environment
  • Ability, desire and determination to learn and adapt quickly
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to “think outside the box”
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills
  • Ability to complete tasks in an efficient, cost-effective and logical manner
  • Ability to work in a highly structured environment
  • Ability to complete detail/precision work with accuracy utilizing strong math skills
